At Blackfoot Animal Shelter & Rescue we prioritize our local animals in need. We work with city and county officials to locate the homes of strays to the best of our abilities. All dogs and cats brought into our facility are treated with the love and respect they deserve. Our goal is to keep them healthy and happy as they wait to go home.
We also have the opportunity to work with several shelters and rescues all throughout the Untied States. We take part in helping with transportation efforts as well as housing transplants of our own when we have the space to do so. Animals from other states who would otherwise not have the second chance at life are sheltered here and find their forever homes right here in Blackfoot.
Our staff works daily with our animals both in one-on-one settings and in group play. Training the animals to know their basic commands is something we strive for to help them better adjust to their new homes when they leave us. We know that every animal is different and make a point to find their motivators and flaws so that we can correct unwanted behavior whenever possible.
Even when we work with these animals so carefully certain behaviors may not be apparent in this setting, or may not be fully corrected at the time the pet is adopted. At Blackfoot Animal Shelter we believe that full disclosure and transparency is key to setting a family and their new pet up for success. We always disclose known history and details about our pets before they go home.
We want what you want, for every animal we rescue to find a life of happiness and contentment, and in turn spread their joy to the members of their family and everyone else they meet. Blackfoot Animal Shelter is a place of nurturing and caring to every animal that comes through our doors. At this rescue we give all we can to the animals to ensure they get what is best for them. We even give them our hearts while they are here.
We don't just take the easy and friendly animals. Several of the creatures we get in our facility have aggression issues, extreme behavioral issues, or difficult medical conditions. Our staff is trained to work with animals in all conditions and our refusal to give up on these animals creates deep bonds that last a life time.
Blackfoot Animal Shelter and Rescue, a beacon of hope, is a nonprofit organization transforming lives daily. Our daily mission is restoring, health, happiness, trust and dignity to animals battered by life. This is not a job but our passion. We breathe life into broken animals, mending bodies and spirits.

We have had hundreds of inquiries about Winnie. We are accepting applications for her through Wednesday 3-13-24, we will go through all applications and some how make a decision.
